Sunday Serveday :)

We had such a wonderful time with our new church family this morning. We all met at church at 9 (there were no less cars in the parking lot than a regular sunday) and then we all split up in to our teams and headed out to work sites. The other groups went to a neighborhood that the church adopted a few years ago in downtown Denver, and our group went to The Joshua Station. As I said in the last post, they take homeless families and provide a system for them to overcome being homeless. They have a great set up where people are not learning to be dependent, but independent. They offer counseling and a vibrant community. We got to power wash the walls, organize a shed and deep clean the kitchen and kids play room.
I had a wonderful time scrubbing stove pans (you know the things under the electric stove tops... didn't know what else to call them :) After the men had finished organizing the storage them came and moved all the ovens (4) and refrigerators (18) and scrubbed, swept and mopped behind them. It was awesome to being getting to know more people in the church by serving along side them! This kitchen is the community kitchen where all the residents come and cook.
This is one of the kids from our church reading with a little girl who lives there :)

And this is our team :) We just can't wait to get more involved with this church and become apart of their family. I am so excited to start bible study this Thursday with all the woman. We are doing a book on Jonah! If your interested in reading more about our church here's the website: /http://www.hillsidechurchfamily.org/

On another note, Stephen got all his doctor gear... ottoscope, opthalascope, stethescope, bp cuff, reflex hammer, etc. and I couldn't help but take a pic.
Only $800 bucks later we have an in home Dr. office :)

Alrighty well I am off to stock up on peaches at Sprouts (grocery store) b/c they are have a 3lbs for $1 sale, and well, the Californian in me is being starved to death by the lack of fruit!
